A vinyl pool liner replacement is one of the most significant investments you can make in your swimming pool. A professionally installed liner not only enhances the appearance of your backyard but also protects the pool structure and helps ensure years of reliable performance.

Since 2002, Ultimate Pool Service has been providing professional pool liner replacement services throughout Oakville, Burlington, and Mississauga. Every project begins with a thorough on-site inspection to assess the condition of the existing liner, pool walls, floor, coping, fittings, and visible plumbing before a custom replacement liner is ordered.

Our experienced in-house technicians manage every stage of the replacement process—from precise measurements and liner selection to professional installation, system start-up, and water balancing recommendations. By taking the time to properly prepare the pool before installation, we help ensure your new vinyl liner provides long-lasting performance and a precise fit.

Replacing a pool liner is also an excellent opportunity to inspect aging components, identify potential repairs, and discuss equipment upgrades that may be easier or more cost-effective to complete while the pool is empty.

Our Pool Liner Replacement Process

Our proven installation process ensures every liner is professionally measured, custom manufactured, and installed for long-lasting performance.

Step 1

Consultation & Liner Selection

We help you choose a liner pattern and finish that complements your pool and backyard.

Step 2

Precise Pool Measurements

Detailed on-site measurements ensure your replacement liner is custom-manufactured for an accurate fit.

Step 3

Ordering & Scheduling

Once your measurements are confirmed, your custom liner is ordered from one of our trusted Canadian fabricators, and installation is scheduled.

Step 4

Pressure Testing the Circulation System

Before installing your new vinyl liner, we pressure test the circulation system to identify potential underground plumbing leaks or other issues that could affect your pool after the new liner has been installed.

By identifying potential problems before installation, we can discuss the available repair options and help prevent the need to remove your new liner to complete future plumbing repairs.

Step 5

Removal & Surface Preparation

The existing liner is removed, and the pool structure is prepared for installation. This may include minor floor repairs, wall preparation, and surface smoothing.

Step 6

Professional Liner Installation

Your custom vinyl liner is professionally installed, vacuum-set, aligned, and inspected to ensure a precise fit and smooth appearance.

Once the installation is complete, the pool is filled using either the homeowner's water supply or a water delivery service (additional charges apply). Once the pool has been completely filled, the circulation system is started and allowed to operate.

Step 7

Water Balancing & Final Inspection

Once the circulation system has been operating for at least 24 hours, we perform a complete water analysis and balancing service.

Properly balanced water is essential to protecting your new vinyl liner from premature fading and deterioration while helping maximize its lifespan.

Water balancing chemicals are additional, if required.

When Should You Replace Your Pool Liner?

When Should You Replace Your Pool Liner?

Most vinyl pool liners last approximately 10–15 years, depending on maintenance, water chemistry, sun exposure, and usage.

Signs it may be time for replacement include:

  • Fading or discoloration
  • Wrinkles or stretching
  • Brittle or cracking vinyl
  • Tears or seam separation
  • Recurring leaks

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about liner replacements.

How long does a pool liner replacement take?

Most pool liner replacements take approximately 3–4 business days from the start of installation until the pool is operational again. The exact timeline depends on factors such as the pool size, weather conditions, any repairs required during preparation, and the time needed to completely fill the pool.

How much does pool liner replacement cost?

The cost depends on factors such as pool size, liner selection, pool condition, and any repairs required during preparation. Contact us for a customized quote tailored to your pool.

How long does a vinyl pool liner last?

Most vinyl liners last between 10 and 15 years when properly maintained. Proper water chemistry and routine maintenance play an important role in maximizing the lifespan of your liner.

Do I need to replace my liner if it isn't leaking?

Not necessarily. While leaks are a common reason for replacement, fading, brittleness, wrinkles, stretching, and shrinkage are often signs that a liner is nearing the end of its service life.

Can a new liner be installed over an old liner?

No. The existing liner must be removed so the pool structure can be properly inspected and prepared before installation.

Will repairs be required before installing a new liner?

Minor repairs and surface preparation are common during a liner replacement.  If larger issues are discovered, we will review the findings and recommendations before proceeding.

When is the best time to schedule pool liner replacements?

Pool liners can be replaced throughout the swimming season, but spring and early summer are typically the busiest times of year. Because custom liners require manufacturing time, we recommend booking as early as possible to help ensure your preferred installation date.

Who fills the pool after the new liner is installed?

Once the new liner has been installed, the pool can be filled using your home's water supply or by a water delivery service. Water delivery is available for an additional charge and can significantly reduce the time required to fill the pool.

Will replacing my liner fix a leak?

Not always. If the leak is caused by the vinyl liner itself, replacing the liner will resolve the issue. However, if the leak originates from the plumbing, fittings, skimmer, or pool structure, additional repairs may be required.

Why do you pressure test the plumbing before installing a new liner?

Pressure testing helps identify hidden underground plumbing leaks before your new liner is installed. Identifying these issues in advance can help prevent the need to remove your new liner later to complete plumbing repairs.

Do I need to be home during the installation?

In most cases, no. We'll discuss access requirements with you before work begins and keep you updated throughout the project.

What affects the cost of pool liner replacements?

Several factors influence the cost of replacing a pool liner, including:

  • Pool size and shape
  • Liner pattern and material selection
  • Pool condition and required preparation
  • Floor or wall repairs identified during installation
  • Plumbing or circulation system repairs
  • Accessibility of the pool area

The best way to determine pricing is through an on-site assessment and a detailed quote. Contact Ultimate Pool Service to discuss your pool liner replacement project.
