Pool Closing Service in Mississauga

Closing your pool properly before winter is one of the most important steps in protecting your investment. Mississauga winters bring freezing temperatures, fluctuating weather conditions, and repeated freeze-thaw cycles that can place significant stress on your pool's plumbing, equipment, and circulation system.

Without proper winterization, plumbing lines, pumps, filters, heaters, and other equipment can be vulnerable to freeze damage, resulting in costly repairs and unnecessary delays when it's time to open your pool in the spring.

Testimonials From Our Clients

Been dealing with Ultimate Pool Service for a few years now. They were instrumental in getting our pool renovated with new liner, pump, etc. Here's where it gets really good. My employer closed their operations in Eastern Canada in May, leaving me scrambling. To minimize short term expenses I had to take over the weekly maintenance. The response from Ultimate Pool Service was 100% supportive. Since then I've learned that the weekly maintenance is tougher than it looks AND Ultimate Pool Services had been very responsive and helpful ( thanks Brian ) when I'm in over my head. Did I say THANK YOU Brian and Grant

Derek Fournier

A team I can always count on! Very happy with Ultimate! I’ve opened and closed with them for a few years now and am always impressed with the great service. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and professional. You can count on them to get the job done! Thanks, Brian, Grant, Sarah, and team!

Jacq Steele

Very impressed with Ultimate. Called because we were having suction issues and couldn't vacuum the pool. Someone was at our house within an hour and we discovered it was one of the owners of the business. He was extremely professional and helpful, and because he was already there and fixed the issue so quickly he did some liner pulls as well for us. Now the pool is working perfectly and looking great. Thanks Brian! We will for sure be calling Ultimate again.

David Locke

We've been using Ultimate Pool for pool maintenance for several years now. Very knowledgeable and dependable. Brian is very prompt to return voicemail messages and really knows his stuff. They always come when scheduled. Helped trouble-shoot and repaired several problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about pool opening services in Oakville.

When should I close my pool in Mississauga?

The ideal time to close your pool depends on several factors, including the weather, water temperature, and the surrounding environment. Many homeowners choose to close their pool when they are finished swimming, while others schedule their closing earlier because nearby trees begin dropping leaves, acorns, beech nuts, or other debris that make the pool more difficult to maintain.

In most cases, pool closings are scheduled between late September and early November, before overnight temperatures consistently fall below freezing.

If you're unsure when to schedule your pool closing, our team can recommend the best timing based on your pool, surrounding landscape, and how long you plan to keep the pool open.

Can I schedule my spring opening at the same time?

Yes. Many Mississauga homeowners secure their preferred spring opening date when scheduling their fall closing.

Why is professional winterization important?

Professional winterization helps protect your plumbing, equipment, and circulation system from freeze-related damage during the winter months. A properly completed pool closing also helps reduce the risk of costly repairs and supports a smoother spring opening.

What happens if I close my pool too early?

Closing your pool too early, particularly while the water is still warm, can increase the risk of algae growth before winter. We recommend waiting until the weather is consistently cooler while ensuring the pool is closed before freezing temperatures arrive.

Are pool closing chemicals included?

Pool closing chemicals are available as an optional add-on and are recommended for most pools to help maintain water quality throughout the winter.

For pools with solid winter covers, we do not add liquid chlorine (shock) during the pool closing, as high chlorine concentrations trapped beneath the cover can bleach or damage vinyl liners and other pool surfaces. Instead, we'll recommend the appropriate closing chemicals based on your pool, winter cover type, sanitizer system, and current water chemistry.

Do I need to lower the water level before my appointment?

It depends on the pool closing service you choose.

  • Equipment Shutdown: Yes.
  • Partial Pool Closing: Yes.
  • Full Pool Closing: No. Our technicians will lower the water level as part of the service.
Do I need to be home during my pool closing?

No. As long as our technicians have access to the pool area, equipment, and any required gates, your pool closing can usually be completed without you being home.

Should I clean my cartridge filter before winter?

Yes. If your pool uses a cartridge filter, the cartridges should be thoroughly cleaned before storage for the winter. Ultimate Pool Service offers professional cartridge filter cleaning as an additional service for homeowners who prefer not to perform this maintenance themselves.
